Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and organized Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team! In this vital role, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients and visitors, ensuring a welcoming and efficient experience. Your responsibilities will include managing patient appointments, verifying insurance information, handling medical records, and providing exceptional customer service. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, tech-savvy, and passionate about supporting healthcare operations with professionalism and enthusiasm. Responsibilities Greet patients warmly and assist with check-in and check-out procedures using our Electronic Health Record (EHR) system. Schedule appointments accurately utilizing medical scheduling software; coordinate with providers to optimize daily clinic flow. Verify insurance coverage, process claims, and handle billing inquiries using medical billing systems; ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations. Manage patient records by updating medical documentation, reviewing charts, and maintaining confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA standards. Answer multi-line phone systems professionally, providing information or directing calls to appropriate staff while practicing excellent phone etiquette. Assist with intake procedures including collecting patient information, updating demographics, and explaining clinic policies. Support office management tasks such as filing, faxing, data entry (including 10 key typing), and maintaining organized medical files. Requirements Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar medical office role; clinic or dental office experience is highly preferred. Strong knowledge of EMR systems is a plus. Understanding of medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, and insurance verification processes. Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and health information management software. Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse patient populations; bilingual abilities are a plus. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and confidentiality standards essential for handling sensitive health information. Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. High school diploma or equivalent required; additional certification in medical administration is advantageous.
