Referral Coordinator North Texas Surgical Specialist Fort Worth, TX Job Details Full-time $19 - $21 an hour 13 hours ago Benefits Health savings account Health insurance Dental insurance 401(k) Paid time off Vision insurance 401(k) matching Employee discount Life insurance Qualifications Filing Medical scheduling Attention to detail Patient interaction Time management Full Job Description Ability to apply knowledge of best practices related to referral services with goals, objectives, performance improvement strategies, and best practice outcomes. Enters notes/special instructions needed for scheduling in the electronic medical record and hospital based scheduling system. Effectively utilizes clinical knowledge when determining if appointment is consistent with the diagnosis/indications indicated by the provider. Confirms patient's insurance provider and either obtains prior authorization or communicates need for prior authorization to appropriate parties as needed Ensures all medical records, referral documents, and all other required documentation are complete. Verifies all pre-authorizations, registrations and other referral-related forms are completed timely and in accordance with federal, state and local regulations. Knowledge of the referral process, including insurance plans, payer requirements etc. Gathers pertinent information from insurance carriers or other staff to determine financial responsibility, obtains referral authorization when needed from insurance carriers and relays such authorization (or denials) to the patient as well as the provider. Efficient with information gathering, communicating with patients and referring providers. Strong organizational and time management skills as well as ability to multi-task. Ability to research and resolve complex issues. Ensures accurate and timely communication with patients, providers, and other staff. High attention to detail and ability to lead and/or participate in team and individual interchanges. Ability to organize and maintain referral information in a paper and electronic application. Secures patient information and maintains patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records. Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations. Serves and protects the surgery practice by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements. Enhances practice reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments. Other duties as assigned.
