Job Description

We are a family medical office seeking a fun, friendly, organized, and responsible individual who is skilled at making the customer feel welcome and appreciated.
YOU WILL BE
Greeting patients and visitors in a courteous and friendly manner. Checking patients in and out. Receiving patient phone calls and performing basic triage. Screening calls, arranging appointments, and referrals. Preparing new records, files, scans, and maintaining records. Updating patient demographics and insurance information in medical records. Relaying instructions to the patient as determined by the physician. Occasionally typing correspondence, reports, memos, and forms. Communicating pharmacy requests to and from the physician. Registering patients and collecting copayments. Performing billing and bookkeeping functions including collecting cash payments, posting, and balancing daily sheets of transactions. Performing other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Previous medical receptionist experience or background in general office work. Computer literacy with electronic medical records, Microsoft Word, and Excel. Ability to type 60 words per minute. Good organization skills. Ability to keep financial records and perform mathematical tasks. Knowledge of medical terminology. Must maintain patient confidentiality. Ability to learn quickly from oral and written instructions. Previous contact work with members of the public. Spanish language skills are a plus.
PERSONAL QUALITIES
Ability to communicate well with people in personal contacts and on the phone. Can effectively act as a liaison between patients and providers. Maintains good hygiene and professional appearance. Able to work well under pressure.
