Job Description

Eye Physicians of Southwest Virginia, a multi-office ophthalmic and optometric practice located in Southwest Virginia, currently has a position opening in our Abingdon, VA office for a front office receptionist. The candidate must be detail oriented, self-motivated, caring, organized and hard working, with excellent interpersonal and computer skills. Must have knowledge and/or experience with:
Qualifications:
Excellent phone skills. Minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent. Experience in a medical office. Experience in an ophthalmic and optometric practice is highly preferred.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Data Entry and Chart Administration Schedules, reschedules, and cancels appointments as necessary. Files reports and charts.
Insurance Processing:
recording primary and secondary, special requirements, filing claims, etc. Electronic Medical Records and scheduling systems. Word processing, dictation, document scanning. Diagnosis codes and CPT codes. 2. Telephone and Greeting Handling patient requests and questions, both on the phone and in person. Answers telephone calls promptly. Addresses the caller's concern. Directs all calls to appropriate personnel. Identifies emergency calls and schedules appropriately. Updates patient recalls as necessary. Performs all front desk duties daily. 3. Consistent Patient Follow-Up Keeps an active cancellation list and uses it as necessary. Confirms all appointments.
