Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and adaptable individual to serve in a hybrid role combining ophthalmic technician duties with medical scribing responsibilities. This position plays a vital role in both patient care and physician efficiency by supporting clinical workflows, documenting encounters in real time, and performing essential ophthalmic testing. Key Responsibilities Medical Scribe Duties Accurately and efficiently document patient encounters in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), including history, examination findings, assessments, and treatment plans as dictated by the physician. Track diagnostic test results, imaging, and lab work, ensuring all data is uploaded and linked to patient charts. Prepare visit summaries, referral letters, and follow-up instructions as directed by the physician. Anticipate physician needs during examinations and procedures to improve workflow. Maintain strict patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance at all times Ophthalmic Technician Duties Conduct patient intake: record medical/ocular history, chief complaint, allergies, and current medications.
Perform diagnostic testing such as:
Visual acuity, color vision, refraction (manual or auto) Tonometry (applanation, iCare, or other methods) Visual fields, OCT, fundus photography, corneal topography, and A-scan/biometry Instill ophthalmic drops and prepare patients for dilation and procedures. Assist ophthalmologists with minor in-office procedures and surgeries as needed. Ensure exam rooms and equipment are cleaned, calibrated, and ready for use. Educate patients on medication use, treatment plans, surgical prep, and postoperative care instructions.
