Job Description

Job Overview Balin Eye & Laser Center is seeking a dependable, motivated Medical Scribe/Ophthalmic Assistant to join our busy ophthalmology practice. Previous ophthalmology or optometry experience is preferred, but not required. We are happy to train the right candidate. Medical assistants, medical scribes, ophthalmic assistants, and candidates with other healthcare experience are encouraged to apply. This position works directly with our physicians and provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in ophthalmology and patient care. What You'll Do Work directly alongside the physician during patient examinations Document patient visists accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR) Update medical histories, medications, diagnosis, and treatment plans as directed by the physician Assist with patient flow and help keep the physician's schedule running efficiently Prepare examination rooms and patients for visits Assist physicans and clinical staff with patient-care activities as needed Maintain accurate, confidential patient records and follow HIPAA requirements Communicate professionally and compassionately with patients and other members of the healthcare team Who We're Looking For We are looking for someone who is bright, organized dependable, and comfortable working at a fast pace.
The ideal candidate will have:
Medical assistant, medical scribe, ophthalmic, optometric, or other healthcare experience preferred No previous eye-care experience required-we will train the right person Familiarity with medical terminology is helpful Good computer and typing skills Strong attention to detail Ability to listen carefully and document information accurately Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a busy medical practice A positive attitude and willingness to learn Experience with electronic medical records is helpful, but training will be provided on our system Why Join Us? Pay:
$20.00 - $24.00 per hour Expected hours: 24.0 - 40.0 per week
