Job Description

Job Summary Under the direction of the Transcription Supervisor, transcribes medical information dictated by physicians and other healthcare practitioners in order to facilitate patient care and delivery of healthcare services. Essential Functions Transcribes dictation and formats reports according to established guidelines. Verifies patient information for accuracy and completeness. Recognizes and evaluates inconsistencies and discrepancies, and appropriately revises or clarifies without altering the meaning of the dictation or changing the dictator's style. Maintains appropriate production and quality standards as defined by department policy and procedure. Prints and distributes work per procedure according to locations where typed. Operates and maintains transcription computer equipment, software, dictation equipment, photocopies, fax machine and Hospital Information System in an effective, skillful, efficient and safe manner. Communicates and collaborates with other members of the team in order to ensure continuity of care and coordination of services. Communicates unusual circumstances with possible risk factors to the manager. Qualifications Required High School Diploma or equivalent 1 year of experience typically gained through skills/knowledge/abilities One to two years medical transcription experience or educational equivalent in medical transcription program. Required CRT
