Ophthalmic Medical Scribe Overview :
Retina Northwest's Ophthalmic Medical Scribes are responsible for working alongside our physicians utilizing clinical knowledge to enter patient information into an electronic health record (NextGen) and transcribe physician's medical decision-making in real time. Scribes assist in the care, treatment, and education of ophthalmology patients. They will cross train as ophthalmic technicians to learn how to room patients, obtain medical history, prep for injections, assist with laser treatments, and perform OCT imaging. Education- High school diploma or equivalent required. (OSC) Ophthalmic Scribe Certification preferred. Experience
- Six months scribe experience in a medical or hospital setting experience is preferred but not required. Knowledge, Skills, & Ability
- Knowledge of ophthalmic terminology a plus, as is EHR templating.
Work Expectations & Clinic Operations:
The Ophthalmic Scribe is a full-time role with variable hours based on patient volume and may involve travel or floating to other RNW locations as needed. Staff are expected to arrive on time, ready to begin scheduled shifts, and consistently demonstrate professionalism. Accurate electronic timekeeping is required in compliance with Oregon and Washington labor laws, and employees must follow RNW's scheduling procedures, including timely communication regarding time off or scheduling conflicts.Clinic Locations:
