We're looking for a Medication Technician (Med Tech) to join our Bonita Villa Senior Living team! We are seeking a compassionate, dependable, and detail-oriented Medication Technician (Med Tech) to provide exceptional resident care and assist with medication administration in accordance with physician orders, state regulations, and community policies. This position combines hands-on caregiving with medication management to help ensure the health, safety, and well-being of our residents. Position Summary The Medication Technician provides direct resident care while safely administering or assisting with medications as permitted by state regulations. This position works closely with the Resident Services Director, licensed healthcare professionals, physicians, pharmacies, residents, and families to promote quality care and maintain regulatory compliance. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesResident Care Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including: Bathing and showering Grooming and personal hygiene Oral care Dressing Toileting and continence care Mobility and transfers Ambulation assistance Provide reminders and assistance according to each resident's individualized service plan. Safely lift, transfer, reposition, and assist residents using proper body mechanics and approved transfer equipment. Assist residents during meals, including meal setup, serving, encouragement, and monitoring food and fluid intake. Conduct routine resident rounds according to care plans and community policies. Observe, document, and promptly report changes in residents' physical, emotional, or cognitive condition, including changes in mobility, appetite, skin integrity, bruising, or behavior. Complete all resident documentation accurately and promptly using approved charting procedures. Immediately report resident incidents, accidents, injuries, or unusual occurrences to the Resident Services Director or Shift Supervisor and complete required incident documentation. Medication Administration Administer or assist with medications in accordance with physician orders, state regulations, and community medication policies. Follow all medication administration procedures to ensure resident safety and regulatory compliance. Maintain the security, accountability, and proper storage of all medications during assigned shifts. Inventory and reconcile controlled substances at every shift change with another authorized associate. Review Medication Administration Records (MARs) for completeness and accuracy after each medication pass. Identify, document, and report medication errors according to community policy, including physician notification and completion of required documentation. Assist with medication record audits and quality assurance activities. Order and reorder routine and PRN medications as needed. Process physician medication orders and communicate orders to pharmacies via fax or electronic transmission. Ensure medication-related documentation is complete, accurate, and current. Resident Health Monitoring Monitor residents' health status and report significant changes to the Resident Services Director or licensed nurse. Assist with routine health monitoring, including vital signs, weight, blood pressure, respirations, and other assigned observations. Review resident files daily to ensure documentation and required signatures are complete. Communicate with physicians, pharmacies, residents, and families regarding medication-related matters as directed. Administrative & Team Support Assist supervisors with administrative responsibilities during assigned shifts. Serve as a communication liaison between residents, families, physicians, pharmacies, and community leadership. Maintain inventory of medical and office supplies. Participate in resident activities and encourage resident engagement and socialization. Maintain clean, safe, and organized resident living areas and common spaces as assigned. Assist with housekeeping, laundry, dining services, dishwashing, and other support duties as needed. Attend required meetings and in-service training. Perform additional duties as assigned. Foster positive relationships with residents, families, physicians, pharmacies, vendors, and fellow associates. Maintain resident confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Respect and protect Residents' Rights. Demonstrate professionalism, compassion, and respect in all interactions. Promote a positive, collaborative work environment. Accept constructive feedback and use it to improve performance. Follow all community policies, procedures, infection prevention practices, and safety standards. Immediately report any suspected abuse, neglect, exploitation, or misappropriation of resident property in accordance with state regulations and community policy. Perform duties within the scope of certification and under the direction of licensed nursing staff when applicable. Remain awake and alert throughout the assigned shift, as required by state regulations.
