Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Medication Aide to join our team. In this vital role, you will assist in administering medications and providing essential care to the individuals in our services . Your expertise will support the health, safety, and well-being of individuals with diverse needs, including those with developmental disabilities. The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of medical terminology, medication administration protocols, and patient care practices within regulated environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Safely administer oral, topical, and prescribed medications following physician orders and facility policies Verify individual identity and medication dosages before administration Monitor the individual's vital signs and observe for adverse reactions or changes in condition Assist with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, and mobility support Maintain accurate medical documentation and record medication administration Support patients with specialized needs Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy Collaborate with medical staff/nurse to update medical records and communicate patient status Assist with tube feeding, catheter care, and other specialized medical procedures as trained Participate in ongoing training related to physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology Provide compassionate caregiving in home and community settings Duties The Certified Medication Aide plays a crucial role in delivering high-quality patient care through a variety of responsibilities: Administer oral, topical, and injectable medications accurately Observe and document consumer responses to medications and treatments Assist individuals with mobility, transfers, and personal hygiene routines Monitor vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, respiration rate, and temperature Maintain detailed records of medication administration using electronic systems Follow protocols for infection control and safety standards in all caregiving activities Skills The successful candidate will demonstrate a comprehensive skill set aligned with healthcare standards: Proven experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or IDD service providers. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology related to medication administration Ability to perform vital sign assessments accurately and recognize abnormal findings Experience caring for individuals with IDD, Alzheimer's disease or other forms of dementia Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with healthcare teams and families Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure the confidentiality and privacy of patient information If you are committed to providing compassionate care while maintaining high standards of safety and professionalism, we encourage you to apply for this rewarding opportunity.
