This position exists for the purpose of providing not only direct resident care with a strong emphasis on geriatrics, but also to administer medications in cooperation with and under the direction of a licensed nurse. Employees will be able to utilize and interpret the resident plan of care, which includes short- and long-term goals. Employees will possess strong communication skills and a strong teamwork approach, which serves to enhance resident care, safety and dignity.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Administration of medications following the 5 rights: right drug, right dose, right resident, right time and right route, with knowledge of the medications. Accuracy and efficiency in medication administration using critical thinking skills while demonstrating a strong and positive work ethic that promotes unit cohesiveness and morale. Report any concerns, questions or changes in resident conditions for the day to the licensed nurse. Participation in and capability to complete all daily ADLs for the resident. Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions explicitly. Actively engage our residents by implementing Moving Well techniques in our day to day contact with them. These techniques include using intergenerational interactive participatory dance, storytelling and touch to liberate their power to nurture and heal our residents. Participates in and supports continuous improvement initiatives.
Skills and Experience:
Required:
High school/GED/equivalent. Certified Nursing Assistant Certification TMA course or successfully completed LPN/RN course medication administration class. CPR Certification. Basic computer skills; Word, Excel, Outlook, Patient information databases (Cerner, EMR, American Data).
Preferred:
