TeamAvamere.com The primary role of the Medication Tech is to administer medications and provide direct care to residents. Pass medications according to physician orders, delegated by and under the supervision of a licensed nurse and in accordance with facility policy. Administer accurately and timely. Record medications administered in the resident's record. Notify the pharmacy (or family when applicable) when medications need to be refilled. Maintain a clean and organized medication cart and medication room. Monitor and report any/all side effects of medications to the Director of Health Services. Obtain/provide shift report. Record sufficient information related to medication administration to implement accurate changes to medication orders. Follow comprehensive care plans related to medication administration based on each resident's needs and their comprehensive assessment as assigned. Assisting with medical appointments, communicating with healthcare providers, and advocating for the residents' needs Observing residents for changes in health, reporting concerns to medical professionals, and monitoring vital signs. Document information pertaining to changes in residents' status, personal needs, and communications with outside providers in the electronic medical record. Complete accident and incident reports in a timely manner and according to facility policy Perform delegated nursing services as assigned by the RN. Participate in in-service education programs as assigned. Promptly report changes in resident conditions to the Director of Health Services. Follow written and oral directions. Perform all duties assigned in an effective, cooperative, timely and professional manner. Be responsible for the safety of residents under their supervision. Work cooperatively with residents, nursing staff, physicians, families, consultant personnel, community agencies, and ancillary service providers. Assist new employees in following established facility policies and procedures. Maintain confidentiality of resident and facility information. Perform other duties as assigned by the manager or supervisor.
