  • Full-time Job Overview Medication Technician (MedTech)
  • Responsible for safely administering medications to residents in an assisted living facility Supports residents with daily living activities while promoting independence, dignity, and well-being Works under supervision of a nurse (RN/LPN) or facility administrator Key Responsibilities Administer prescribed medications to residents following physician orders and facility protocols Accurately document medication administration (MAR•Medication Administration Record) Observe residents for side effects, reactions, or changes in condition and report concerns promptly Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including: Dressing Grooming Bathing (as needed) Ensure medications are stored, handled, and disposed of according to regulations Monitor medication supplies and coordinate refills with pharmacy and nursing staff Maintain a clean, safe, and organized medication cart and work area Communicate effectively with nurses, caregivers, residents, and family members Follow infection control and safety procedures at all times Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Certified Medication Aide/Technician (state-specific certification required) Current CPR/First Aid certification (often required) Previous experience in assisted living, senior care, or healthcare preferred Basic understanding of medical terminology and medication procedures Skills & Competencies Strong attention to detail and accuracy Compassion and patience when working with elderly residents Good organizational and time-management skills Ability to follow written and verbal instructions Effective communication and teamwork skills Ability to handle emergency situations calmly Work Environment Assisted living community May require standing, walking, lifting, and assisting residents Shifts may include evenings, weekends, and holidays Typical Schedule Full-time, part-time, or per diem options Shifts may include: Morning (AM) Evening (PM) Overnight (NOC)
