Job Summary:
Ensure and enhance the health and well-being of our Residents by laundering clothing, bedding and other textiles according to standards of cleanliness, serviceability and infection control. Dietary Functions Identifies and sorts different types of soiled laundry for processing according to established policy Loads and operates commercial laundry machines Maintains a clean and sanitary work environment Follows all routines and procedures related to Follows standard precautions and works within OSHA guidelines Immediately reports any suspected abuse or neglect of Residents per facility policy Reports any equipment malfunction to the designated staff member Personnel Functions Attends designated staff meetings as scheduled Develops and maintains a good working relationship with other staff, whether within the nursing department or inter-departmental personnel Completes assigned training in a timely manner Utilizes materials and supplies in an efficient, cost-effective manner Remains free of criminal conviction that may preclude employment in the nursing home setting (including but not limited to theft, battery, assault) Reports any pending criminal or civil charges or matters to the Administrator by the next business day Learns and follows fire and other work safety policies Follows all facility policies and procedures Follows the direction of the Dietary Manager, Administrator and/or Director of Nursing Always represents the United Pioneer Home in a positive manner unless contraindicated by law Performs other duties as qualified for and as directed
Requirements:
Qualifications Able to communicate fluently in written and spoken English Able to follow directions and recipes, and to read labels and instructions Minimum age 16 Able to work every other weekend Other Skills and Abilities required Demonstrated concern for the elderly and ability to treat Residents with respect and dignity Ability to maintain the strict confidentiality of Resident information, as per HIPAA regulations Strong time management and teamwork skills Ability to prioritize duties and to understand and follow work assignments Ability to understand and follow interventions in Resident diets and care plans as appropriate Customer service oriented Adequate strength and endurance to operate commercial laundry machines Ability to work as scheduled and adapt to changes in bi-weekly work schedule Physical Requirements Ability to endure prolonged walking, sitting, standing, use of pulling, bending, and stooping movements for up to 8 hours per shift Able to bend, squat, and do repetitive shoulder/arm motions Able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds frequently and up to 50# occasionally Be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability Remain free of illegal drug use and signs of impairment as per facility policy
