GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Wyoming Retirement Center is seeking a qualified individual to fill the position of Medication Aide. The individual in this position works under the direction of a licensed nurse(s). This person will assist in providing a variety of health care skills according to the stability of the residents' conditions that involve predictability, absence of risk complications, and rate of change. This person will assist in maintaining proper infection control procedures and carry out other policies and procedures of the facility.

FUNCTIONS
The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function that may be performed at the job level. Administers medication when a predictable outcome is expected in residents with common recurring health problems, as outlined in the Wyoming State Board of Nursing Advisory Opinion issued November 2013. Performs the functions of a CNA II, as outlined in the Wyoming State Board of Nursing Advisory Opinion issued November 2013. Precisely and accurately documents procedures performed and medications given. PREFERENCES/
AGENCY REQUIREMENTS
Must be in good standing with the Wyoming State Board of Nursing. - Agency requires a current CNA license.
- Agency requires a certificate for Medication Aide (MAC)
KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge and skills of the CNA II. Knowledge and skills of the MA-C. Knowledge of basic Nursing Assistant procedures and responsibilities. Knowledge of diseases and disabilities of the elderly. Knowledge of infection control techniques. Maintenance and use of nursing equipment. Ability to work on a team with good oral and written communication skills. Be observant and communicate subtle changes to the charge nurse.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Associate's Degree (typically in Healthcare)
Experience:
No prior experience is required.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
CNA Certification OR Education & Experience Substitution:
1-3 years of progressive work experience (typically in Human Services)
OR Certificates, Licenses, Registrations :
CNA Certification
PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS
Must be able to: Lift/transfer persons to different positions. Lift persons and/or medical equipment of varying sizes and weights up to approximately 50 lbs. Work holidays, evenings, nights, and/or weekends as scheduled.

For the health and protection of the persons we care for, an annual influenza vaccination is required, as well as annual testing for tuberculosis. A pre-employment drug screening is required by the Wyoming Department of Health for safety-sensitive positions (direct patient care positions are considered safety sensitive). Failure to complete this requirement will require reimbursement of the bonus with the funds deducted from the final pay.
