JOB SUMMARY
The Health Clerk will be under the direction of the Administrator of Student Support Services and the immediate direction of a credentialed school nurse. Health clerks will provide healthcare and health education to children, assist the credentialed school nurse in implementing immunization programs, infection control programs, and record-keeping, and perform other health-related duties as requested. The Health Aide will serve as a paraprofessional assistant as assigned and will assist with parent issues as directed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience:
Equivalent to the completion of the 12th grade. Experience in working with children with various disabilities and health-related issues is preferred.
Personal Qualifications:
Demonstrate a consistent understanding and attitude toward students. Ability to appropriately and positively manage student health needs and behaviors. Ability to work with adults and other staff members.
Professional Qualifications:
The candidate will possess the knowledge and ability to assist in determining the extent of illness or injury of a child in accordance with basic first aid training, the disposition of the ill or injured child, work cooperatively and effectively with students, staff, parents, and personnel from other agencies and the community, and attain knowledge of preventative measures regarding exposure to blood and other bodily fluids, potential contact with blood-borne and communicable diseases, and chemicals, including antiseptics and disinfectants. Candidates will have or attain a valid CPR certification.
