Salary step placement for promotional candidates is based upon Rules of the Personnel Commission. Job Summary Job Summary The Behavior Intervention Specialist will work to help coordinate services within a Positive Behavior Intervention & Supports (PBIS) framework and Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) for the Kern County Consortium Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA). This position will consult and collaborate with Office, school district personnel, and outside agencies to help promote a school environment responsive to the needs of children with disabilities and provide in-service training on positive behavioral interventions, evidence-based interventions, and other best practices. Qualifications Experience:

One (1) year of experience (paid or unpaid) working in counseling programs or in programs that support at-risk youth with emotional/behavioral issues. Experience with a

PBIS-MTSS

system or framework as specialized behavior support staff preferred.

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social/Behavioral Sciences, or related field, OR an Associate's degree in Psychology, Social/Behavioral Sciences, or related field, and three (3) years of experience working in counseling programs or in programs for at-risk youth with emotional/behavioral issues. Experience in an educational setting preferred. Attach any documents that you feel will help demonstrate that you meet the minimum qualifications listed above (i.e. resume, transcript, diploma). CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Some positions may require proof of privately owned automobile insurance and possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle operator's license which must be maintained for the duration of the assignment. Fingerprint clearance by both the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the California Department of Justice is a condition of appointment after all other required job conditions have been met. Must present verification of completion of Child Abuse Mandated Reporter training or obtain verification within six (6) weeks of hire and annually thereafter, as required by the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act. This position has a probationary period of six months or 130 days, whichever is longer.
