Job Description

Category Schools - Paraprofessional Job Type Contract Make a meaningful impact working as a Paraprofessional in a dynamic school environment near Long Beach, CA. This contract opportunity is an excellent way to support students and collaborate with dedicated educators while advancing your career in special education. You'll play a vital role during the Extended School Year (ESY), assisting with academic and behavioral programs alongside enthusiastic professionals. In this position, you will work closely with teachers and other support staff to provide individualized and group support for students, especially those who can benefit from additional guidance during the summer session. Your compassion, patience, and commitment to helping children thrive will make a real difference every day.
Qualifications and Experience:
Previous experience as a paraprofessional in a K-12 setting is highly valued Ability to assist with academic and behavioral support, including implementing behavior analysis (BA) strategies Flexible and adaptable to varying classroom settings and student needs Collaborative team player with exceptional communication skills High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree or higher preferred Willingness to work under the supervision of credentialed teachers and follow established protocols
Responsibilities Include:
Supporting instructional activities for students based on established lesson plans Implementing behavioral interventions and positive reinforcement techniques Assisting students individually or in small groups to reinforce learning Monitoring student progress and communicating observations to lead staff Helping maintain an organized, safe, and supportive classroom environment Encouraging positive social interactions and emotional well-being This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute during the ESY period and gain valuable skills in educational support.
