Position Summary:
The Mental Health Clinician provides direct mental health support, consultation, and psychoeducational programming for students enrolled in the Middle College Program. This unique alternative education setting serves highly capable and academically motivated students, some of whom may experience social, emotional, or mental health challenges that have led them to seek a nontraditional educational environment. The clinician functions as the primary mental health provider and intake coordinator for the program, assessing student needs, facilitating access to appropriate services, providing short-term counseling interventions, and developing psychoeducational programming. The position requires a high degree of autonomy, initiative, clinical confidence, organization, and collaboration with educational staff. 1. Master's degree in Social Work/Psychology/Counseling, 2. Current registration with the BBS. 3. Minimum one year's experience providing therapeutic services to youth. 4. Excellent written and oral communications skills. 5. Creative, resourceful, ethical and professional. 6. Submit and maintain evidence of a current (completed within the last year) negative Tuberculin test, maintain clear Criminal Background Check/Fingerprinting, and any other mandatory state/federal requirements. 7. Bilingual abilities preferred This position will be onsite at Foothill Middle College Serve as the primary mental health clinician for the Middle College Program. Conduct student intakes and assess social-emotional, behavioral, and mental health needs. Maintain an active caseload, which may fluctuate annually depending on program needs. Clinician would be isolated in regards to no contact with the other clinicians on site, but will be in frequent collaboration with the Admin Assistant and two MVLA teaching staff. Clinical will share main office with 3 MVLA staff : Admin assistant ,Two teachers full time. Clinician office is private, but adjacent to staff office. A lot of collaboration between admin assistant and teachers Population/Middle College program structure: Students who are highly intelligent; some with social challenges that caused them to seek alternative schooling History and English courses taken with MVLA teachers Students are free to take college courses outside of English and History Community driven, small, close knit group of students:

ROLE - RESPONSIBILITIES
Managing an ongoing counseling caseload of approximately 10 students, with variability based on student need. Providing brief intervention services ranging from approximately 3-18 sessions per student. Clinician will function as intake coordinator to determine needs, clinical services, etc Consult with school staff regarding student wellness, behavioral concerns, and intervention strategies. Develop, coordinate, and facilitate psychoeducational groups and workshops based on student needs. Topics may include mindfulness, stress management, emotional regulation, coping skills, resilience, executive functioning, and other wellness-related areas.
