Drawing upon lived experience in recovery when applicable, the Peer Support Specialist helps clients build recovery skills, increase motivation, and maintain engagement in treatment. This position also performs non-clinical duties consistent with the role of a Registered Alcohol and Drug Technician (RADT), including monitoring client activities, maintaining program structure, documenting observations, and supporting a safe therapeutic environment. This position serves as a positive role model, promoting recovery, personal responsibility, healthy coping skills, and successful community reintegration.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide peer-based support, encouragement, and mentoring to residents throughout their treatment experience. Share recovery experiences appropriately to inspire hope and support client engagement. Assist clients in identifying personal strengths, recovery goals, and wellness strategies. Facilitate or co-facilitate recovery-oriented groups, life skills workshops, and peer support meetings as assigned. Support clients in developing healthy coping skills, relapse prevention strategies, and community support networks. Encourage participation in treatment activities, recovery meetings, and program services. Assist clients in accessing community resources, employment services, educational opportunities, housing resources, and recovery support services. Promote a culture of respect, accountability, and mutual support within the residential community. As part of the Grandview team, PSS will work closely with team to support the following: Monitor resident activities and ensure compliance with program rules, schedules, and expectations. Conduct facility rounds and maintain awareness of resident whereabouts and safety. Observe and document client behaviors, participation, progress, and significant incidents in accordance with agency policies. Assist with urine drug screening procedures, breathalyzer testing, and other program monitoring activities within scope of training and agency policy. Conduct property searches, room inspections, and contraband checks as required. Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation support while notifying clinical staff and supervisors of concerns. Transport clients to appointments, recovery meetings, court appearances, or community activities when authorized. Maintain accurate documentation, shift reports, logs, and incident reports. Ensure facility cleanliness, safety, and adherence to health and safety standards. Participate in staff meetings, training programs, and clinical consultations as assigned. Team Collaboration Work collaboratively with counselors, case managers, medical staff, and other treatment team members. Communicate relevant client observations and concerns to clinical staff in a timely manner. Support implementation of individualized treatment and recovery plans. Maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality in accordance with
HIPAA, 42 CFR
Part 2, and agency policies.

$22.20 - $26.00 per hour
