PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Mile High Behavioral Healthcare's Walk-in Crisis team is a 24/7 crisis response serving those who require higher level of support after hours. This team provides care for all ages of community members and provides mental health and substance abuse clinical assessments in a crisis.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Walk-in Crisis Empowerment Ally-Recovery Specialist will be responsible for utilize trauma informed care models to support individuals in crisis, provide referrals for ongoing care, utilize de-escalation skills, emotional regulation skills and safety planning to support client success. The Empowerment Ally will provide specialized support focusing on case management and education around substance misuse and other co-occurring disorders. The Empowerment Ally builds trusting relationships, connects patients with community resources, and conducts educational outreach to promote health and wellness.
WORK SCHEDULE
The Walk-in Crisis Team operates on a two-week rotating schedule; Team A Week One Sunday-Tuesday (4 days off) and Week 2 Sunday-Wednesday (3 days off). Team B Week One Wednesday-Saturday (3 days off) and Week Two Thursday-Saturday (4 days off) utilizing 12-hour shifts.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Ability to provide and support with Peer Services in crisis situations.
  • Collaborate with the client connect clients to their community.
  • Provide light case management services to clients as needed or assigned.
  • Coordinate intakes for interested clients as well as provide recovery support during open office hours.
  • Transport clients to appointments in order to reduce barriers to recovery, when appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical records consistent with Medicaid, private insurance and the Behavioral Health Administrative Service organizations (BHASO)'s standards in all areas including, but not limited to: admission summaries, assessments, daily charting, weekly clinical staffing notes, and discharge summaries within the agency electronic health record system (EHR).
Adhering to mandatory deadlines.
  • Follow up with clients after they leave the Walk-in Crisis Center for additional support.
  • Compile resources around emerging housing and harm reduction topics and be able to disseminate that information within the community.
  • Coordinate and lead large events held at MHBHC.
  • Professionally represent the agency and program at community resource fairs.
  • Treat all patients with dignity, respect, equity and equality.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Familiarity with significant and persistent mental illness.
  • Experience in sexual health work and/or Peer Recovery services
  • Obtained, or in process to obtain COPA credential for Peer Recovery.
  • Knowledge of community resources.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
    Education:
    Preferred Bachelors level with substance use and prevention licensure in CAT, CAS, COPA and/or Prevention.
    • Experience working with SPMI and substance use clients, knowledge of the criminal justice system or the competency system highly desired.
    Strong understanding of social justice principles and intersectionality of health disparities in behavioral health. Experience working with marginalized communities, particularly transgender and gender expansive folks.
    OTHER REQUIREMENTS
    • Valid Driver's License and car insurance by date of hire
    • Ability to undergo background check due to caring for children, adolescents and families.
    • Some travel around the Denver Metro Area
    • Some evening and weekend work for events
    • This is a full-time in office position (40 hours a week).
    Pay:
    $23.00 - $25.00 per hour
