Job Description

Reports To Director of Curriculum and Supervision Position Summary The Behavior Interventionist / Administrative Support Specialist supports the social-emotional, behavioral, and developmental needs of children ages 6 weeks through 5 years while providing operational and administrative support to ensure the smooth functioning of the center. This position serves as a key member of the educational/administrative team by assisting teachers with behavior management strategies, supporting classroom coverage needs, communicating with families, and providing front desk and administrative assistance as needed. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesBehavioral and Educational Support Observe, assess, and support children's social-emotional and behavioral development. Implement individualized behavior intervention strategies and positive behavior support plans. Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to address behavioral concerns and promote positive outcomes. Model developmentally appropriate behavior management techniques for classroom staff. Provide coaching and guidance to teachers regarding behavior support strategies. Document behavioral observations, interventions, and progress as required. Participate in meetings related to child development, behavior planning, and family support services. Support inclusion practices and help create nurturing, safe, and engaging learning environments. Classroom Coverage and Program Support Provide classroom coverage during teacher absences, breaks, planning periods, and staff shortages. Assist with daily classroom routines including supervision, meals, diapering, toileting, transitions, and learning activities. Ensure compliance with staff-to-child ratios and licensing requirements. Support children's learning through active engagement and developmentally appropriate interactions. Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment. Administrative Responsibilities Provide front desk coverage, greeting families, visitors, and community partners in a professional and welcoming manner. Answer and direct phone calls, emails, and inquiries. Assist with student enrollment, registration, attendance tracking, and record maintenance. Support family communication regarding schedules, events, and program information. Maintain confidential student and family records in accordance with program policies and regulations. Assist with filing, data entry, copying, scheduling, and other clerical duties. Monitor building access and visitor sign-in procedures to maintain safety and security. Family and Community Engagement Build positive relationships with families and serve as a supportive resource. Communicate professionally and respectfully with parents regarding behavioral and developmental concerns. Assist in coordinating family engagement activities and center events. Coordinate with outside therapists. Support referrals to community resources when appropriate. Qualifications Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Special Education, Child Development, or a related field preferred. Experience working with young children ages 6 weeks to 5 years in an educational, childcare, or behavioral health setting. Knowledge of child development, positive behavior support, trauma-informed practices, and social-emotional learning. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and basic office technology. Ability to multitask and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment. Physical Requirements Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel, and lift/carry up to 50 pounds. Ability to actively supervise and engage with young children throughout the day. Ability to respond quickly to emergencies and support children's physical needs. Preferred Certifications CPR and First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain). Training in behavior intervention, social-emotional learning, crisis prevention, or early childhood mental health preferred. From $20.00 per hour
