Job Description

Minimum 6 months Paraprofessional or Special Education experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. Embark on a meaningful contract opportunity supporting a young learner in an elementary school setting near Wilmington, DE. This full-time position runs from August 25, 2026, through June 8, 2027, and centers around providing dedicated 1:1 support to a student with specialized needs. The daily schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 4:00pm (35 hours per week, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch). Ideal candidates will feel confident and comfortable working with non-verbal learners and have experience supporting students who may engage in self-injurious behaviors. Working knowledge or training in crisis prevention (CPI) techniques is highly valued. Toileting assistance is required for this role, so sensitivity and professionalism are essential.
Qualifications:
Active Delaware Paraprofessional Permit (required before interview consideration) Previous experience as a paraprofessional or in a similar school-based support role Experience working with students requiring toileting support Strong background supporting non-verbal learners Familiarity with CPI or behavioral/crisis management preferred Comfortable addressing self-injurious behaviors Ability to commute daily to Maple Lane ES in Wilmington, DE Willingness to complete $85 CBC fingerprinting prior to starting RBT certification welcomed but will fulfill duties as a paraprofessional
