Duties Provide direct support to individuals with intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, neurodevelopmental disorders, and other disabilities to promote independence and skill development. Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs), including grooming, hygiene, meal preparation, medication administration, and mobility support. Implement behavior management strategies tailored to each individual's needs to encourage positive behaviors and reduce challenging behaviors. Support individuals in engaging with community activities, appointments, and social outings to foster community integration. Collect and document data on progress toward personal goals, behavioral patterns, and daily routines to inform care plans. Communicate effectively with clients using appropriate methods such as American Sign Language when needed to ensure understanding and comfort. Maintain a safe environment by adhering to health and safety protocols, conducting regular safety checks, and responding promptly to emergencies or incidents. Collaborate with families, caregivers, behavioral health professionals, educators, and other team members to coordinate care plans and ensure consistent support. Qualifications Experience working with individuals with autism, developmental disabilities, or neurodevelopmental disorders is highly preferred. Knowledge of special education principles and behavior management techniques is essential. Proficiency in American Sign Language or willingness to learn is advantageous for effective communication. Background in behavioral health or home & community care supports your ability to deliver compassionate assistance. Prior experience assisting patients with cognitive disabilities or intellectual disabilities enhances your effectiveness in this role. Ability to provide caregiving support including helping with ADLs such as grooming, feeding, mobility, and medication administration. Strong communication skills for interacting clearly with clients, families, team members, and community partners. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required for community outings or appointments. Experience working with individuals with disabilities in settings such as childcare or social work is beneficial.
