Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Companion (Life Skills Level 1 Worker) to support individuals with developmental disabilities, including autism and other disabilities, in their daily lives. This role is vital in fostering independence, building life skills, and promoting community engagement. As a Companion, you will provide personalized assistance, ensuring safety and well-being while encouraging growth through positive interactions and tailored support strategies. This paid position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those you serve, helping them achieve greater independence and quality of life. Responsibilities Assist individuals with activities of daily living (ADLs), such as grooming, dressing, eating, and personal hygiene Support behavioral health needs through behavior management techniques and positive reinforcement strategies Facilitate social interactions and communication using skills like American Sign Language or other communication methods Provide transportation assistance by safely driving clients to appointments, activities, or community outings Collect data on progress toward goals, documenting observations accurately for care planning and reporting purposes Assist with medication administration following prescribed protocols and safety procedures Engage clients in meaningful activities that promote skill development, socialization, and community participation Support children and adults in home and community settings with caregiving tasks and developmental support Skills Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, or behavioral health needs Knowledge of special education principles and behavior management techniques Proficiency in communication skills, including American Sign Language or alternative communication methods Home & community care experience that demonstrates adaptability and compassion Ability to assist with ADLs effectively while maintaining client dignity and independence Strong caregiving skills combined with patience, empathy, and active listening abilities Valid driver's license with a clean driving record for transportation duties Ability to collect accurate data for progress tracking and reporting purposes Familiarity with medication administration procedures and safety protocols Experience working in social work or related fields is a plus Join us in creating a supportive environment where individuals thrive!
