Job Description

Overview We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Aftercare Worker to join our team. This role involves working closely with students in the after school program. This individual will supervise and interact with students during a variety of activities, including, but not limited to, assisting with homework assignments, games, crafts, and playground activities. Responsibilities Provide direct support and supervision to students, ensuring their safety and well-being. Foster positive relationships with students. Implement first aid procedures as necessary and maintain a safe environment. Set up activities or rooms depending on needs. General cleaning as necessary and at the end of each shift. Communicate with parents to ensure proper pickup procedures are followed. Follow and enforce applicable policies. Participate in training sessions with Iowa Health & Human Services as needed. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Strong verbal communication skills Strong ability to follow written and oral directions Previous experience working with children is highly desirable. Certification in first aid is preferred to ensure the safety of all students under care. Must be able to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl. Must be able to frequently lift or move objects up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift or move objects up to 25 pounds Must be willing to obtain Fingerprinting and Background check. Must be able to pass the health and physical requirements set by Health & Human Services. Working Environment and Conditions The employee will be subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions, including extreme cold and heat.
