We offer Intensive Outpatient (IOP) and outpatient services built on a clinical foundation that blends Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with proven 12-Step principles. We are opening in late August 2025 and are building a recovery program centered on genuine care, accountability, and lasting transformation for individuals and families in our community. Population We Serve We serve adults recovering from substance use disorders, including alcohol, opioids, cocaine/crack cocaine, stimulants, and other illicit substances. Clients may arrive voluntarily or through referrals from courts, hospitals, or community partners. Role Overview The Peer Recovery Specialist is one of the most meaningful roles at Waymark because it can only be filled by someone who has lived what our clients are living. This role is built around lived experience, peer connection, accountability, encouragement, and genuine support for people navigating recovery. You will serve as a bridge between the clinical team and the clients — helping individuals feel understood, supported, and connected throughout their recovery journey. Responsibilities Build trusting peer-based relationships with clients Provide encouragement, accountability, and practical recovery support Facilitate peer support check-ins individually and in groups Connect clients with community resources including housing, employment, transportation, and recovery meetings Outreach to clients who may be disengaging from treatment Support clients in crisis and escalate concerns to the Clinical Director Document peer interactions and submit notes weekly Model healthy recovery values and professional boundaries Participate in team meetings and contribute client-centered insights Help foster a welcoming, family-oriented recovery culture Qualifications CRSS (Certified Recovery Support Specialist) certification required Personal lived experience in recovery from substance use required 1-2 years of sustained sobriety preferred Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to maintain professional boundaries Familiarity with community resources in the Rockford area preferred Basic documentation and computer skills Compensation & Benefits $35,000-$40,000 annually Paid time off Health insurance contribution Continuing education/training support Full-time position Schedule & Location Full-time 4949 Harrison Avenue, Rockford, IL Schedule aligned with program operating hours Our Culture Waymark Recovery Centers is building a mission-driven, family-oriented culture where staff feel valued and supported while maintaining high standards of care.
