Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION DETAILS
Job Summary:
Operates under the direction of the nurse to maintain a safe and comfortable environment for patients. Manages clerical and customer service duties of the central desk area of the unit. Provides customer service to staff, physicians and patients and their guests by answering questions and providing clerical support. Patient interaction to include physical observation and safety checks, meal assistance, documentation of intake and vital signs.
Education:
Position requires a high school diploma or GED.
Registration/Certification/Licensure:
None Specified Experience:
Position requires 1-6 months' clerical experience and/or education through work or school. Experience working in a patient-centered environment preferred. Experience using or knowledge of electronic medical records, medical terminology, and Microsoft Word and Outlook preferred. Clerical healthcare experience a plus.
Other Requirements:
Maintains unit-specific and hospital competencies, mandatory learning, and any clinical certifications required in accordance with the Staff Education and Training policy GA-057 and/or any other department requirements. Ability to work in a multi=task environment with frequent interruptions. Ability to maintain professional composure in a stressful environment. Ability to professionally communicate with all levels of staff, patients, and their guests by phone and in person. Ability to maintain organization of electronic medical records and office documentation. Successful completion of Unit Secretary training program. Excellent time management and organization skills Faciliation of group activities One-to-one monitoring as needed Other assigned duties
