Job Description

Overview We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Part Time Peer Support Specialist to join our behavioral health team. This role is vital in providing peer-led support to individuals navigating mental health challenges, substance use disorders, and co-occurring conditions. The ideal candidate will bring personal experience with recovery, strong communication skills, and a commitment to fostering hope and empowerment within diverse communities. As a Peer Support Specialist, you will serve as a trusted advocate, offering guidance, encouragement, and practical support to promote recovery and well-being. Duties Provide peer support through active listening, mentorship, and sharing personal recovery experiences to inspire hope and resilience. Assist clients in developing recovery goals and connecting them with appropriate community resources and services. Implement harm reduction strategies and motivational interviewing techniques to support clients' progress toward stability. Facilitate group activities and educational sessions focused on mental health, addiction recovery, and wellness strategies. Maintain accurate documentation of client interactions using electronic health record (EHR) systems while respecting client confidentiality. Collaborate with clinical staff to coordinate care plans for individuals with co-occurring disorders or substance use issues. Engage with culturally diverse communities to ensure inclusive support that respects individual backgrounds and experiences. Respond effectively to crisis situations through crisis management and intervention skills, ensuring safety for clients and staff.
QUALIFICATIONS
• A Certified Peer Specialist must have at least a high school diploma or equivalent and applicable training and testing as required by the Department of Mental Health, and be supervised by a qualified mental health professional as defined in Code of State Regulations.
