Immediately Job Description The behavioral interventionist works alongside teachers and teacher assistants to help individuals/groups of students who may need support with behavioral issues that may have a negative impact on themselves and others or disturb the learning environment.Qualifications:

The behavior interventionist will: Follow School Policies and Procedures Carry out the school philosophy as it pertains to instruction and individual and community behavior expectations. Reviews the handbook annually and upholds FD policies Demonstrates the NC Code of Conduct Follow Safe School's Plan when working with students Caseload Manage and support a caseload of approximately 5% of the overall school population Observe students to draft behavior plans Review the caseload roster quarterly with the Directorate Write and manage behavior and safety plans for students on the 5% roster Communicate directly with families of students on their caseload, with lead teacher consent. Collaboration with Staff Observe classroom structures and recommend changes to assist teachers and students in achieving better outcomes. Model implementation of behavior plans, suggest adjustments, and collaborate with the classroom team on behavior plans. Support Lead teachers with writing and managing behavior and safety plans for students not on the 5% roster. Collaborate with classroom teachers on general behavior management (consequences, behavior plans, rewards, meetings with families) Help with the investigation of behavior incidents and writing of incident reports (with feedback from the classroom teacher, Operations Coordinator, and EC Coordinator) Offer behavior consequences suggestions to the classroom teacher and Coordinators assisting with behavior referrals Support Assistant Teachers Lead the beginning-of-year assistant teacher training. Schedule assistant teacher meetings K-4 and 5-8, and Americorps. Teach and support assistants to structure transitions, snack, recess, lunch, and electives/ specialists. Teach assistants how to do "check-ins", give appropriate consequences, and determine student readiness to be in class. (Proactive behavior management strategies, De-escalation strategies) Coordinate and provide monthly supervision check-ins between teachers and assistants. Provide group supervision monthly (K-4, 5-8) for half an hour. Supports classroom teachers in supervision and evaluation of assistant teachers in the areas of classroom and behavior management Meetings and General Staff Expectations Attend the beginning-of-year Directorate meetings, administrative days, and end-of-year Directorate meetings Attend Intervention Team meetings when it pertains to a child on the 5% roster Attends at least the first hour of every directorate meeting Be included on directorate emails Demonstrate Directorate's values: efficiency, engagement, purpose, compassion, understanding Maintain confidentialityEvaluation Process:
The behavior interventionist will: Two formal observations a year EC Coordinator will be the Behavior Interventionist's supervisor The Behavior Interventionist will have an Executive Council check-in personPay/Benefits:
Salary:
$40,015.50 with salary steps to be determined__-Total Salary:
