INTENSIVE IN-COMMUNITY PROGRAM BEHAVIORAL ASSISTANT JOB DESCRIPTION POSITION TITLE
Behavioral Assistant ("Independent" Contractor) - Bilingual
DIRECT REPORT
Clinical Director Behavioral Assistants will provide services to families involving the application of positive behavioral principles within the community by way of culturally based norms to foster adaptive outcomes. They will work efficiently to enhance the youth's behavior and/or attitude by developing and strengthening skills in a variety of situations. Behavioral Assistants will work individually or in a group setting with youth and families to support behavioral and treatment plan goals. This position requires a background in providing support services to children and adolescents with severe emotional, behavioral, mental health challenges.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Serve high-risk children and families involved in the Child System of Care (CSOC), Division of Child Protection and Permanency (DCPP) and/or Mobile Response to provide clinical services.
  • Provide individual direct services to children and adolescents in need of behavioral interventions.
  • Provide assistance to Intensive In-Community Therapist (IIC) in developing behavioral therapy programs and modify daily activities of youth and families appropriate to behavioral interventions
  • Comply with behavioral plans developed by IIC and support the implementation of individualized treatment plans for each youth.
  • Use short-term evidence-based practice/interventions to provide a range of clinical interventions and advocacy services to families that are consistent with the family's values, learning styles, lifestyle, circumstances, and culture.
  • Assess family safety, structure of the home environment, and use clinical strategies designed to promote safety.
  • Adhere to paperwork submission timeframes and deadlines.
  • Participate in child family team meetings, as necessary.
  • Participate in required supervision and/or staff meetings to discuss current and up-coming family sessions and needs and pertinent agency information.
  • Answer phone calls, emails and/or text in a timely manner.
  • Provide services primarily in client homes. Travel to client homes and other locations in the community as needed.
  • Schedule sessions at times that are convenient for families, and at times when problems are likely to occur, including evenings and weekends.
  • Adhere to confidentiality rights of clients, co-workers and agency, consistent with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) and ensure the protection of personal health information in written, verbal and electronic forms.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the use of the Electronic Health Records.
  • Maintain a current BA Certification
EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification:
BA Training Certificate through the Children System of Care and/or Applied Behavior Analysist (ABA) preferred. Enrollment in the BA Training Certification required.
Work Experience:
Ability to work with clients, other health professionals and para-professionals in diverse communities.
Skills:
Ability to create a warm, non-threatening therapeutic process, provide non-judgmental responses, counsel adolescents/children and families, and work with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Empathic, attentive listener, ethical, creative, organized, flexible, can work independently, self-motivated, dedicated and enthusiastic.
Physical Demands :
The individual must possess the ability to perform work that requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, moving, and lifting of up to or in excess of 50 pounds.
