Position Type:
Full-Time, 10-Month (School Year)Position Summary:
The School Health Assistant supports student health and wellness by providing basic first aid, assisting with daily health needs, maintaining accurate health records, and coordinating with school nurses across campus locations. This role helps ensure a safe, healthy, and responsive environment for all studentsEssential Duties and Responsibilities:
Health Services Support- Provide first aid, monitor symptoms, and document care provided to students.
- Administer medications and health treatments under the supervision of the school nurse or per standing orders.
- Notify parents/guardians of illness or injury and follow proper communication protocols. Medical & Administrative Tasks
- Maintain accurate and confidential health records in accordance with FERPA and HIPAA regulations.
- Support immunization compliance tracking and assist with vision/hearing screenings.
- Prepare health office supplies, forms, and reports. Health Office Operations
- Greet and triage students visiting the health office and determine the appropriate level of care or referral.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety of the health office and equipment.
- Assist with communication and follow-up for chronic health conditions and care plans. Collaboration & Emergency Response
- Work with school staff and the school nurse to support students with medical needs.
- Assist in emergency situations following school safety and health protocols.
- Participate in professional development and training related to health services.
Qualifications:
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- First Aid and CPR certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).
- Must pass background check and health clearance.
Preferred:
- Prior experience in a school, medical, or childcare setting.
- Bilingual abilities are a plus.

- Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow protocols.
- Flexibility and composure in urgent or high-need situations.
Work Environment:
- This is a full-time, in-person position based at a CASLV school campus.
