Full Job Description Job Summary:
The Assistant Residence Manager assumes the responsibilities of the Residence Manager in their absence; assists the Residence Manager with coordination, organization and management of the residence; serves as a role model and advocate; ensures the safety of individuals supported by providing consistent supervision and observation; promotes a homelike atmosphere; assists in maintaining cleanliness of the residence; implements Individual Staff Action Plans; and provides training of adult living skills in a dignified and respectful manner.Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following: Other duties may be assigned to meet the needs of the individuals supported and the program. Execute agency and program policies and procedures. Implement and maintain the Developmental Disabilities Department's mission of the Person-Centered Plan. Attend and participate in all mandatory trainings, as well as on-going and in-service trainings. Successfully complete AMAP Certification and administer medications as prescribed by a doctor(s) to the individuals as soon as scheduled, within 90 days of hire. Successfully complete Tube feeding training, Diabetic Training, Colostomy training, and any specialized certification, if required, within 90 days of hire. Assume the responsibilities of the Residence Manager in their absence. Assist the Resident Manager with coordination, organization and management of the residence. Assist Residence Manager with maintaining home and consumers' finances. Assist Residence Manager with orientation and training of new staff. Attend and actively participate in staff meetings, interdisciplinary team meetings and individuals' supervision to provide pertinent information to meet the needs of the consumer(s) and the home. Encourage open communication among the staff. Advocate for the rights of individuals supported. Maintain individual specific information in a confidential manner. Supervise individuals supported at all times and provide for their safety. Assist Residence Manager to ensure adequate staff coverage. Assist individuals supported with their Adult Daily Living Skills (ADLS) i.e. bathing, dressing, brushing teeth, washing hair, cutting nails, and shaving. Document behavior modification programs and body checks. Assist in the development, implementation, and documentation of Individual Staff Action Plans. Complete all required documentation on a daily basis prior to the end of the shift. Comply with health, safety and sanitation codes. Shop for food and household items for the residence. Assist with meal planning, preparation and clean up, i.e. clean kitchen, discard garbage, mop floor, wipe tables. Assist in providing a clean, safe and homelike environment in the residence. Assist individuals supported to select, purchase, launder, mend and prepare appropriate clothing specific to weather, occasion, etc. Transport individuals supported s as needed. Accompany individuals supported on medical and other appointments as scheduled/needed, provide information to medical personnel and relays all information to the appropriate staff in the home/agency. Assist individuals supported to meet their religious obligations. Oversee recreational and community outings of the c individuals supported choice. Cooperate with staff in other Developmental Disabilities Program services. Use crisis intervention and calming techniques as needed.Education & Experience:
High School Diploma and one (1) year supervisory experience and one (1) year experience working with the developmentally disabled population; or three (3) year experience working with the developmentally disabled population required. Supervisor experience preferred A valid, non-restricted and acceptable driver's license is required.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to peers, consumers, families and other employees of the agency. Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers, and multiplies and divides with 10's and 100's. Ability to apply common sense and understanding in carrying out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to interact with and complete assignments in a manner sensitive to the service population's cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate clearly and effectively. Depending on location SCIP-R (Perform Strategies for Crisis Intervention and Prevention-revised) physical intervention is required. Stair climbing is required (where applicable).Special Demands:
Assistant Residence Manager should use lifts provided for all lifting. They also need to be able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds. On occasion, it may be necessary to lift a greater weight, in which case, assistance may be needed.Pay:
