Job Description

Job Summary Several positions are open across Orange, Sullivan and Rockland counties for Community Habilitation & Respite Staff, where you will play a vital role in empowering individuals with developmental disabilities and autism to achieve greater independence and quality of life. This rewarding position involves providing personalized support in community settings and homes, fostering skill development, and offering respite to families. Your energetic and compassionate approach will help create a positive, inclusive environment that promotes growth, safety, and well-being for those we serve. Various positions are available with rates of pay ranging from $20-$30/hour for Community Habilitation and $18-$21.50/hour for Respite. Please indicate your area of interest and what counties you would be willing to commute to. Responsibilities Deliver direct support to individuals with developmental disabilities and autism, assisting with daily living activities (ADLs), social skills, and behavioral health needs. Implement behavior management strategies to promote positive behaviors and emotional regulation. Facilitate engaging community outings, recreational activities, and skill-building sessions tailored to each individual's goals. Collect and record data on progress, behaviors, and activities to monitor development and inform care plans. Provide respite care for families by offering reliable caregiving support in home or community settings, ensuring safety and comfort at all times. Qualifications Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, or other disabilities in home or community environments. Knowledge of special education principles, behavior management techniques, and behavioral health practices. Proficiency in communication skills, including familiarity with American Sign Language (ASL) is a plus. Ability to assist with ADLs such as bathing, dressing, cleaning, assisting with money management and communication while maintaining dignity and respect. Valid driver's license with reliable transportation for community outings and home visits. Strong data collection skills to track progress and support documentation requirements. Experience in caregiving roles is advantageous. Thank you for your time. Please indicate desired location and availability.
