Role Overview:
Tops Peer Influencers are dedicated student leaders committed to promoting health and well-being among their peers at Tri-C. These student leaders will be trained and certified through the Mental Health First Aid [MHFA] which will play a crucial role in guiding students towards resources and support while facilitating activities that enhance health awareness and holistic well-being. This position is supported by the Division of Student Experience and housed in the Campus Counseling Centers. The role reports directly to the campus Counseling Managers and Assistant Deans of Counseling with an emphasis on leadership, education, and positive impact, but does not involve providing medical or mental health counseling.
Key Responsibilities:
Complete Training:
2-hour Question, Persuade, Refer [QPR] 7.5-hour Mental Health First Aid [MHFA]
Training Peer Education Training Peer Support:
Maintain a presence on campus, serving as a resource and referral point for peers. Assist with Counseling Service Centers new student onboarding
Programming & Initiatives:
Help plan, execute, and participate in event tabling and assist in planning, and execute health & wellness programs and events, including Student Involvement Fairs, Success Week, and Wellness Fest. May include setting up equipment and traveling to another campus. Consult with Counseling Manager for relevant events and assignments
Advertising:
Support the promotion of events and programs through various means and provide recommendations for social media presence.
Reporting:
Maintain accurate monthly reports of events, programs and assignments
Presentation Delivery:
Present on health and wellness resources and topics at various campus events, student groups, and academic classes. Consistently maintain 6 credit hours each semester; Maintain satisfactory academic progress; Adhere to College's confidentiality policy; Successfully pass background/drug screening; Answer phone and take messages; Clerical duties such as filing, data entry, copying and faxing; Open and sort mail; Strong interpersonal communication skills; Willingness to learn new technology; Assist with special projects; Other duties as assigned.
