4/3/2026 Exposure Coach I Summary Under the direction of the Clinical Director and with daily oversight from the Exposure Coach III, the Exposure Coach I is responsible for the care and safety of assigned children and adolescents. As a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team, the Exposure Coach I assumes a primary role in implementing Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)-based treatment. The Exposure Coach I contributes to the development of ERP‑based therapeutic milieu care plans and is responsible for the implementation, observation, and documentation of these plans under the direction of the Clinical Director and Exposure Coach III. Therapeutic Milieu & Patient Safety Maintains a safe and therapeutic environment Actively engages with assigned children throughout the program day Participates in the development and implementation of ERP‑based milieu care plans Supervises assigned children during exposure‑based activities Assists patients with anxiety‑impacted activities of daily living using an exposure therapy framework Identifies and reports safety issues or clinical concerns Completes timely verbal reporting and written documentation of incidents Completes required documentation, including incident, seclusion, and restraint reports Participates in debriefings as required Carries out daily assignments as delegated and reports back prior to the end of the program day Intervenes therapeutically during disruptive or unsafe situations Maintains appropriate professional boundaries B. Policy & Professional Compliance Adheres to hospital, department, and program policies and procedures Attends staff meetings, peer reviews, and development activities as assigned Maintains current certifications, including: Crisis Management / Safety Care CPR OSHA, ERS, and required safety certifications C. Care Planning & Interdisciplinary Collaboration Participates in patient care planning under the direction of clinical leadership Assists with admission interviews and supports therapeutic alliance with patients and families Supports patient separation and transition into the program milieu Completes initial patient assessments, including detailed anxiety symptom evaluation Collaborates with psychologists and psychiatrists to develop anxiety hierarchies that guide ERP treatment Reviews and recommends updates to care plans and anxiety hierarchies based on observation Communicates care plan updates to unit staff and interdisciplinary providers Participates in diagnostic conferences, treatment teams, rounds, and handoff reports Documents observations and care provided accurately and timely Shares learned knowledge with peers through formal and informal education Adapts care approach to meet the developmental needs of children and adolescents D. Exposure‑Based Treatment & Behavioral Support Contributes to patient‑specific exposure and behavioral management plans Assists with activities of daily living and personal hygiene Co‑leads community, milieu, social skills, and exposure therapy groups (twice daily) Collaborates with the treatment team in designing and adjusting exposure‑based programming Organizes and actively participates in unit and community activities Participates in daily community visits with patients and families Provides psychoeducation to families regarding exposure therapy Models exposure coaching techniques for parents during community visits Supports parents in implementing exposure strategies Models therapeutic interpersonal interactions consistently Participates in recreation therapy programs Manages crisis situations using safe, least restrictive interventions Seeks supervision and feedback to support professional development Performs additional duties as assigned by the Clinical Director or Exposure Coach III Minimum Qualifications Education & Knowledge Bachelor's degree in a Human Services field preferred Equivalent education and experience may be considered Knowledge of human development, cultural patterns, and lifespan care Training & Certifications Bradley Hospital Safety Care Certification Pediatric Anxiety Research Center training in Exposure Treatment Completion of one month of structured on‑the‑job exposure training, including: Didactic learning Observation of experienced staff Supervised practice of exposure exercises Ability to identify core fears and symptom relationships Ability to adapt exposure plans independently while maintaining fidelity to the exposure model Experience 6 months to 1 year of direct childcare experience with emotionally impaired youth Current CPR, ERS, OSHA, and Safety Certifications Physical & Work Environment Requirements Employees work in a psychiatric setting and must be able to safely manage crisis situations and physical intervention when necessary using approved methods.Physical requirements include:
