Overnight Operations Advocate (OA/PT) — Fri, Sat & Sun | 10:30 PM-7:30 AM Overnight OA, Wed-Fri position (OA/PT) -Sat & Sun 7 pm to 7 am The Fort Bend Women's Center has supported survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault across the Greater Houston area for over 40 years. As a United Way-funded partner, we provide free, trauma-informed services to all survivors—regardless of gender, race, age, religion, sexual orientation, or identity. Our mission is to guide survivors toward healing, safety, and independence. We use brain health-informed, evidence-based programming within a positive reinforcement framework that fosters hope, connection, and long-term recovery from trauma. We are seeking an Overnight Operations Advocate to support shelter operations, ensure client safety, and assist survivors in a compassionate, structured environment. About the Role Operations Advocates are frontline team members who provide overnight shelter support, crisis intervention, and essential operational assistance. This is high-responsibility, trauma-informed work requiring professionalism, empathy, and strong communication skills. Most OAs bring prior experience working with individuals impacted by trauma and demonstrate strong time management, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills. Core Responsibilities Client & Crisis Support Provide crisis intervention and support to clients and prospective clients Maintain a survivor-centered, empowerment-based approach Respond to clients and callers with professionalism and care Respect confidentiality at all times Safety & Shelter Operations Monitor security cameras (live and recorded) Conduct shelter walkthroughs and ensure facility safety and cleanliness Assist with client transportation as needed (local) Support intake readiness, including checking and preparing rooms Daily Shelter Tasks Assist with kitchen duties and meal/snack setup Clean dining and common areas (tables, trash removal, restrooms, patios) Organize, stock, and distribute client supplies Sort and file client mail Administrative & Communication Duties Maintain shelter logs and complete hourly documentation Respond to emails and handle donation or inquiry calls Update shelter boards and client information systems Support shift handoff by reviewing notes and pending tasks Attend weekly team meetings and actively participate Professional Expectations Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills Ability to listen actively, ask clarifying questions, and follow direction Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in high-stress environments Flexible, adaptable, and able to pivot quickly as needs change Self-aware and proactive about burnout prevention and self-care Team-oriented and open to coaching and feedback

meets commitments and takes accountability Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent (some college preferred) 1+ year experience working in a shelter setting (required) Valid Texas Driver's License and required insurance Ability to pass background check and drug screening Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Outlook and Excel) Comfortable with data entry, documentation, and scheduling systems Ability to work non-traditional hours as needed Work Location In person (Greater Harris and Fort Bend County areas; travel may be required)
