Job Description
St. Thomas More Cathedral School is seeking a full-time Lunch and Extended Day Aide. Our Mission is to partner with families to nurture and develop the spiritual, academic, social and emotional promise of each child in accordance with the teaching of the Catholic Church, rooted in Gospel values and led by the examples of the Master Teacher, Jesus Christ. Responsibilities include monitoring students during lunch, recess and after school care. Hours are 10:30am-5:30pm.
Candidates must demonstrate the following:
- Willingness to work in a child care setting that adheres to and teaches the faith and moral tenets of the Catholic Church.
- Models spiritual maturity in leading students towards Christ and in spiritual growth.
- Maintains handbook standards of student behavior needed to reinforce the overall goal of forming young men and women with strong morals and character.
- Greets and interacts with children in a warm and friendly manner.
- Provides a warm, safe, and caring environment that is kept orderly, clean, and free of potential hazards.
- Assists in planning, preparing, and implementing daily activities (indoor/outdoor).
- Implements activities that contribute to a climate where students are actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences.
- Responsible for the health, welfare, and safety of the children.
- Assists in maintaining daily attendance records.
- Cooperates with other staff members to form a positive, supportive team atmosphere.
- Cooperates with other professional staff members in assisting students solve problems, maintain safety, and provide assistance when necessary.
- Maintains confidentiality of privileged information.
- Adheres to all school policies and procedures, including safety requirements.
- Models professional and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, peers, and community.
- Annually maintains 16 hours of professional growth related to child development, growth, and behavior.
