About us Language Garden Montessori School is a licensed bilingual (English and Chinese) Montessori early childhood program in Bellevue serving infant, toddler, and preschool classrooms. We are a year-round school with a strong parent community and a stable, well-supported teaching team. About the role The Front Desk & Office Assistant is the first point of contact for families and visitors. You will work directly with the school's owners and support daily administrative operations. This role also serves as classroom support: you will provide short classroom coverage regularly, and in rare cases when multiple teachers are out sick, you may spend most of the day assisting in a classroom. Candidates should be genuinely comfortable working with young children, not just at a desk.
Responsibilities:
Greet families and visitors and manage front entry check-in and check-out Answer phones and respond to inquiries from current and prospective families Schedule and coordinate school tours Manage parent communications and records in our school management platform (Brightwheel) Support enrollment paperwork, student files, and administrative recordkeeping Assist with billing entries and administrative tasks as directed Provide classroom coverage as a Teaching Assistant when needed, ranging from brief coverage to maintain staffing ratios up to, on rare occasions, full-day classroom support during staff absences
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent; some college or early childhood education coursework a plus At least 18 years of age Strong written and verbal communication skills in English Mandarin proficiency strongly preferred (many of our families communicate in Chinese) Comfortable and confident working directly with infants, toddlers, and preschoolers Comfortable with technology: email, spreadsheets, and learning new software Reliable, organized, and calm under pressure Must meet and maintain all Washington State DCYF requirements to work as a Teaching Assistant in a licensed child care program, including MERIT registration, a portable background check, TB test, First Aid/CPR certification, food worker card, bloodborne pathogens/HIV training, and all required health and safety trainings. We will guide you through this process, and some items can be completed after hire.
