Adolescent Support Staff:
BreakThrough Inc. is a licensed Out-of-home services (OHS) provider that specializes in residential habilitation services for individuals placed in qualified settings outside of their family homes. Our clients are voluntarily placed by their parents or legal guardians. With locations in Spokane and Tri-Cities, we are able to assist a diverse population across the state. We cater to the needs of individuals referred through the Developmental Disability Administration (DDA). Our focus is on developing personalized behavior and treatment plans that empower each resident to fulfill their potential and integrate into the community. At BreakThrough Inc., we honor the unique backgrounds of our residents by respecting their cultural, religious, spiritual, and SOGIE (Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity, and Expression) needs. We are committed to connecting them with relevant resources and support systems to aid in their development. Our overarching goal is to help our residents achieve an appropriate level of independence tailored to their individual needs, while ensuring they engage in meaningful daily activities and community integration.Job Types:
Full-time Swing Shift (schedule range 2:00pm-11:30pm) to include weekends. Overtime may be available.- all shifts are 8 hours
SUMMARY:
The Support Staff plays a crucial part in fostering an independent and normalized environment for our youth residents.Their key responsibilities include:
- Supporting residents in daily activities such as laundry care, personal hygiene, cooking, cleaning, and yard care.
- Encouraging socialization and recreation to aid in the development of life skills.
- Assisting with self-medication, menu planning, budgeting, and shopping.
- Implementing and adhering to treatment and behavioral plans with guidance from the Program Manager.
- Being available for discussions regarding everyday problems or concerns raised by residents.
- Providing transportation to and from outings and appointments.
- And much more.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Some of the key responsibilities of ourSupport Staff:
1.- Communication
- : It's essential to maintain open lines of communication with fellow Support Staff regarding clients, daily documentation (DPS), problems, and any other relevant information from your shift. 2.
- Documentation
- : Staff should objectively document client activities, daily routines, medications administered, as well as any challenges and successes that arise. 3.
- Meetings
- : Attendance at mandatory staff/program meetings at least once a month is required for effective collaboration and sharing of updates. 4.
- Confidentiality
- : All staff members are required to maintain confidentiality regarding both residents and agency information. A confidentiality statement must be signed. 5.
- Professional Behavior
- : We expect staff to exhibit mature behavior and serve as positive role models for individuals, making independent judgments when necessary. 6.
- Behavior Management
- : Staff should be equipped to manage behaviors of residents across all developmental levels, including both verbal and non-verbal communication, and varying degrees of independence. 7.
- Transportation
- : Staff will need to use their own vehicles to transport clients for community outings and appointments. Please remember that mileage will be reimbursed. 8.
- Overnight Staffing
- : For overnight/graveyard staff, it is required to remain awake and conduct bed checks four times per hour for the safety and well-being of clients.
REQUIREMENTS
A Support Staff must: Be over the age of 21 Have a high school diploma, or high school or equivalency course of study (GED/HSEC) Be able to pass a State and Federal Background check Have 6 months of experience working directly with youth/children/vulnerable populations Have the skill and ability to work successfully with the special needs of individuals in care. Have a Valid State Issued Driver's License (copy on file). Current Vehicle Insurance (copy on file). DMV Employment Driving Record (copy on file). The ability to lift 50 lbs. The ability to maneuver up and down stairs in a timely manner. Have reliable transportation (a vehicle you bring to shift each day) An employee will be provided the following training: 16 hours of preservice training and orientation, and a total of 30 hours in-service training annually. Training shall include a combination of orientation, instruction and on the job training. CPR and First Aid, HIV/Blood Borne Pathogens training. Hepatitis B series or Declination. Food Handler's Card (copy on file). Read and understand Agency Policies and Programmatic Policies & Procedures. Watched the Mandated Reporter Video. Take required De-escalation training (RIGHTRESPONSE
) and any other required training that Administration/DCYF requires.Wages and Benefits:
