POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for assisting with the daily operations of the unit and meeting the needs of consumers. The BHS II is also responsible for contributing to and creating a recovery-based environment.POSITION DUTIES
- Provides support and assistance to meet consumer needs including helping with ADLS (activity of daily living) as needed.
- Responds to psychiatric codes and intervenes pro-actively using de-escalation techniques including the least restrictive interventions appropriate for the situation.
- Conducts and documents group classes to promote skill building and psychoeducation.
- Performs assessment and triage of clients by conducting a brief screening as needed. (SARRP only)
- Completes all required paperwork in a timely and accurate manner.
- Monitors and reports behavior of consumers to the treatment team.
- Keeps unit safe, clean and comfortable for both consumers and staff.
- Works with the unit for compliance of safety issues and infection control.
- Works well under pressure, and able to work well with high acuity consumers and effectively de-escalate situation when needed.
- Transport clients to and from appointments and outings.
- Maintain professional boundaries with all consumers.
- Ensure compliance and adequate services, additional job duties may be required to meet the needs of the program and/or department.
- Complete all required training within the required time frames.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
All essential functions of BHS AND functions in a higher-level support role to unit clinicians and leadership in one or more of the following areas:- Care management support:
- Coordinate bed dates.
- Assist with completion of intake assessments and screenings.
- Complete midpoint assessments.
- Support care manager with discharge functions including but not limited to referrals, after care coordination, coordination with all outpatient treatment team members.
Curriculum:
- Edit and maintain existing psychoeducational programming for the unit.
- Research evidence-based practices and creating content for new programming.
- Coordinate with the unit manager and therapist to ensure new programming fits appropriately with existing programming.
- Position may support both residential units with programming development and revisions.
- Coordinate training and orientation with the TGC Training Coordinator in Human Resources.
- Wellness support:
- Research evidence-based and established programming to promote healthy living and coping skills.
- Develop, maintain, facilitate and instruct other staff on facilitation of wellness group activities.
- Coordinate member health care needs with primary care physicians (PCPs), specialty providers, Coconino County Opioid Use Prevention program.
- Ensure completion of Health Risk Assessments (HRAs) and/or related screenings assigned by a unit provider.
- BHS trainer:
- Provide training and orientation to all new employees for at least their first 90-180 days on the job.
- Allow shadowing and observation by the new employee while providing clear instruction on agency and unit policies and rules.
- Coordinate training and orientation with the TGC Training Coordinator in Human Resources.
GENERAL EXPECTATIONS
- Provide high quality customer service to internal and external customers.
- Must work well under pressure, meeting multiple and sometimes conflicting deadlines.
- Demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors.
- Participate in Quality Improvement and Performance Improvement Processes of the agency.
- Complete all TGC required trainings on time.
- Maintains a high level of professionalism while performing job functions.
- Demonstrate flexibility and a willingness to learn.
- This position is 100% onsite/TGC campus, in the state of Arizona.
- This position is categorized as essential staff.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Required:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- One-year experience working in behavioral health, education, human services or caregiving; or other combination of education and experience, approved by HR.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain an Arizona Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Valid Driver License with ability to pass TGC driver background screening.
- Reliability and schedule flexibility.
BHS II ONLY
