24-40 hours per week Full Job Description We are hiring an experienced Caregiver / Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) to provide direct support in a residential program serving adults with Serious Mental Illness (SMI) who also require Personal Care Services (PCS) . This is not a basic caregiving role. Our residents often present with a combination of mental health challenges, emotional dysregulation, impaired functioning, and personal care needs . Staff in this role must be able to provide hands-on support with daily living tasks while also maintaining a calm, structured, trauma-informed, and therapeutic environment. We are seeking team members who are dependable, emotionally mature, observant, and skilled in working with individuals who need both behavioral health support and physical assistance with daily care. This role is ideal for someone with prior experience in: Behavioral health residential settings Group homes SMI programs Personal care or direct care services BHT, caregiver, DSP, or habilitation roles What You Will Do Provide direct supervision, support, and care to adult residents with SMI and PCS needs Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, hygiene, ambulation, and other personal care tasks Support residents with emotional regulation, redirection, de-escalation, and maintaining daily structure Observe resident behavior and functioning and promptly report concerns, changes, incidents, or safety risks Assist with medication support in accordance with policy and assigned responsibilities Complete accurate and timely documentation of resident care, behaviors, incidents, and shift activities Prepare meals, assist with feeding when needed, and support household routines Transport residents to medical appointments, errands, and community-based outings as assigned Maintain a clean, organized, and safe living environment Follow treatment plans, house routines, safety protocols, and staff direction Uphold resident dignity, confidentiality, boundaries, and resident rights at all times What We Are Looking For Experience working with adults with Serious Mental Illness , behavioral health conditions, or personal care needs Previous experience in a group home, residential behavioral health program, assisted living, caregiving, BHT, DSP, or similar direct care role Strong understanding of how to work with residents who may have mental health symptoms, impaired judgment, mood instability, or difficulty with daily functioning Ability to provide respectful hands-on personal care Ability to stay calm and professional in difficult or high-stress situations Strong communication and documentation skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Reliable, consistent attendance and strong work ethic Preferred Qualifications CPR / First Aid certification Fingerprint clearance card or ability to obtain one Valid driver's license Reliable transportation Experience transporting clients/residents Medication administration experience Experience with trauma-informed care, de-escalation, and behavior support Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and assist residents throughout the shift Ability to help with transfers, mobility support, and personal care tasks Ability to respond appropriately in urgent or crisis situations Benefits 401(k) Flexible schedule Referral program Tuition reimbursement Why Work With Us We are looking for staff who understand that this work matters.
