The technician assists residents with daily routines, reinforces program rules, monitors resident activities, documents observations, and supports the clinical treatment plan under the direction of qualified clinical and supervisory staff. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Maintain a safe, secure, clean, and supportive residential environment. Provide appropriate supervision of residents throughout assigned shifts. Monitor resident behavior, interactions, activities, and overall well-being. Support residents in following house rules, schedules, and treatment-program expectations. Assist residents with daily living activities and maintaining personal hygiene and living areas. Conduct and document required room, property, or safety checks according to facility policy. Monitor medication administration only when permitted by facility policy, training, and applicable law. Observe and report changes in resident behavior, mood, appearance, or functioning. Recognize and immediately report potential intoxication, withdrawal concerns, medical emergencies, behavioral crises, or safety concerns to the appropriate supervisor/clinical staff. Assist with crisis intervention according to training and facility procedures. Encourage participation in scheduled groups, activities, appointments, and recovery-related programming. Transport or accompany residents when authorized and assigned. Maintain accurate and timely shift notes, incident reports, and other required documentation. Protect resident confidentiality and follow HIPAA and facility privacy requirements. Maintain professional boundaries with residents and avoid dual relationships. Complete shift-to-shift communication and provide appropriate updates to incoming staff. Assist with maintaining the cleanliness and organization of common areas. Monitor visitors and resident movement according to facility policies. Follow emergency procedures, infection-control practices, safety procedures, and the facility's policies and protocols. Participate in staff meetings, training, and continuing education as required. Perform other duties reasonably related to the position and assigned by management. Qualifications High school diploma or GED preferred. Previous experience in behavioral health, substance abuse treatment, residential care, mental health, healthcare, or a related field preferred. BHT certification/training preferred where applicable. CPR/First Aid certification preferred or required within the applicable timeframe. Ability to complete required background checks and employment screening. Ability to work with individuals experiencing substance-use and behavioral-health challenges. Strong communication, observation, documentation, and interpersonal skills. Ability to remain calm and professional during stressful or crisis situations. Must maintain appropriate professional boundaries with residents. Physical Requirements Ability to remain on your feet for extended periods. Ability to perform routine residential duties. Ability to respond quickly to emergencies. Ability to assist with maintaining a safe environment. Ability to lift or move items consistent with facility requirements. Schedule Residential treatment is a 24-hour operation. Employees may be required to work: Day shifts Evening shifts Overnight shifts Weekends Holidays Overtime when authorized On-call or additional shifts when required by the facility Professional Expectations Employees are expected to: Treat every resident with dignity and respect.
