Position Summary The Overnight Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) plays a critical role in ensuring the safety, well-being, and comfort of clients throughout the night. This position is responsible for maintaining a therapeutic environment, conducting routine safety rounds, documenting observations, assisting with client needs, and supporting the clinical team in providing high-quality care. Responsibilities Monitor client safety through scheduled wellness checks and facility rounds. Maintain a calm, supportive, and therapeutic environment overnight. Document client observations, behaviors, and significant events accurately and timely. Assist clients with appropriate overnight needs while maintaining professional boundaries. Monitor for signs of withdrawal, medical concerns, or behavioral changes and promptly notify nursing or leadership as appropriate. Perform admission-related tasks when necessary. Complete shift reports and communicate effectively during shift handoff. Maintain facility cleanliness and organization during downtime. Follow all company policies, DHCS regulations, Joint Commission standards, and confidentiality requirements. Respond appropriately to emergencies using crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Experience working in substance use disorder, behavioral health, mental health, or residential treatment preferred. Current CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain upon hire). Valid California Driver's License with acceptable driving record. Ability to pass background screening and drug screening. Strong communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills. Ability to remain calm, professional, and compassionate during crisis situations. Preferred Qualifications Behavioral health or addiction treatment experience. Knowledge of substance withdrawal symptoms and recovery principles. Experience with electronic health records (EHR). CPI or other crisis prevention/de-escalation training.
