Mental Health Technician

24 Hour Mental Health Crisis Unit

SCHEDULE

12 hour shifts

JOB FUNCTION

Responsible for monitoring individuals experiencing mental health crises. Spends individual time with consumers. Assists and/or provides selected group activities, and promoting a positive, reinforcing environment for children and/or adults served in the program.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum - high school diploma or equivalent Preferred - college coursework in psychology or sociology; experience in mental health or related setting.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to bend, lift a minimum of 50lbs., stretch, lower and raise self from floor independently. Ability to hear and see in emergency situations. Must be able to pass NAPPI (Non-Abusive Psychological and Physical Intervention) training and perform NAPPI techniques.

SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS

Exposure to all program conditions which may include physical intervention and verbal abuse by consumers. Work hours include weekends and may include extended hours when the need arises.
