Job Description

About Us:
Coastal Detox is a family-owned, Joint Commission-accredited treatment center that has served the Treasure Coast since 2016. We provide compassionate, medically supervised detoxification and residential care in a modern, comfortable environment. Our team takes pride in delivering exceptional care, blending professionalism, empathy, and teamwork to truly make a difference in the lives of those we serve.
Position Summary:
The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) plays a vital role in supporting both clients and clinical staff. BHTs ensure client safety and comfort, assist with daily operations, and help maintain a positive, structured environment. They collaborate closely with the nursing and clinical teams to support clients through their detox and early recovery process.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain awareness of all client locations and activities at all times (including during breaks and off-unit activities). Conduct and document Q15 or Q30 safety checks as required. Take and record vital signs every 6 hours and as needed. Monitor clients for signs of medical or behavioral distress and promptly report any concerns to nursing or leadership. Engage with clients in a compassionate and professional manner — offering emotional support, encouragement, and accountability. Assist with admissions and discharges, including bag searches and orientation to program rules and facility expectations. Support the nursing team with tasks such as meal service, laundry, and ensuring client rooms remain clean and comfortable. Accurately document observations, incidents, and interactions in the EMR system (KIPU). Respond appropriately to medical and behavioral emergencies. Collaborate with all departments — nursing, clinical, housekeeping, and administration — to ensure a cohesive client experience. Uphold all company policies, safety protocols, and confidentiality requirements (HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2).
Requirements:
High school diploma or GED required. Prior experience in a behavioral health or medical setting preferred. Must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and remain calm under pressure. Must maintain professionalism, reliability, and compassion at all times. Valid driver's license (for occasional client transport) preferred.
