Overview The Mental Health Technician (MHT) works with the mental health team alongside the behavioral health team to provide direct care to acutely ill adult geriatric patients in our On Track Senior Behavioral Health Unit. The MHT maintains overall departmental operations aligned with the facility's mission and philosophy , participates in performance improvement activities, and supports an environment focused on high quality, patient centered care. This role requires consistent patient interaction and involvement in daily care activities. The MHT reports to the Charge Nurse and Program Director. Responsibilities Ensure continual delivery of high quality patient care Support and implement care practices and improve patient outcomes Take and record vital signs Monitor patients' level of mental alertness and overall functioning Maintain a healthy, collaborative team environment Assist patients with personal hygiene, including bathing and dressing Provide direct patient care, including supporting social and emotional needs and monitoring progress Provide guidance, support, and positive role modeling to patients Encourage participation in therapeutic activities such as group sessions and social interactions Assist with use of equipment required for assigned responsibilities Work effectively under stress with frequent interruptions; ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift/move up to 50 pounds. Qualifications Current CNA license in the state of Georgia Two (2) or ore years in psychiatric experience preferred Current ACLS certification preferred At Jenkins County Medical Center, our behavioral health team is built on teamwork, consistency, and a shared commitment to patient care.
