Our goal is to help patients improve function, confidence, and quality of life while supporting care options that may help reduce unnecessary reliance on medications, injections, or surgery when appropriate. Indy Spine and Balance is seeking an energetic, compassionate, and dependable Patient Rehabilitation Technician to join our patient care team. This is a hands-on clinical position working directly with patients under the direction of the lead physician and trained clinical team members. The Rehab Technician will assist with a variety of conservative rehabilitation, pain management, mobility, balance, and therapeutic technologies used within our office. Previous experience in chiropractic, physical therapy, rehabilitation, sports medicine, medical assisting, or another patient-care setting is helpful but is not required. Formal certification is not required. We will provide comprehensive training on our equipment, procedures, and patient-care protocols. The ideal candidate enjoys working directly with people, is comfortable learning new technology, follows instructions carefully, and takes pride in helping patients feel comfortable, encouraged, and well cared for. Key Responsibilities Under the direction and supervision of the lead physician and designated training team members, responsibilities will include: Prepare patients for their scheduled rehabilitation and therapeutic procedures. Properly apply Shockwave Therapy treatments according to physician instructions and established clinic protocols. Properly administer Class 2 and Class 4 Laser Therapy as directed. Assist patients with fat-loss laser therapy , including patient setup, positioning, equipment use, and treatment preparation. Properly position and set up patients on spinal decompression equipment for cervical/neck and lumbar/low-back disc therapy. Instruct patients in physician-prescribed active rehabilitation exercises . Observe patients while performing exercises to help ensure they are following the prescribed technique and instructions. Assist patients with balance evaluation and balance rehabilitation equipment . Properly operate and apply the clinic's Mechanical Motion Therapy instrument/equipment according to physician-directed treatment protocols. Prepare treatment rooms and equipment before each patient's care. Clean, disinfect, organize, and maintain treatment equipment and patient-care areas between patients. Help keep the clinical treatment area running efficiently and on schedule. Communicate professionally with the physician and other team members regarding patient treatment flow, questions, concerns, or changes observed during a patient's visit. Provide patients with clear instructions regarding treatment positioning, rehabilitation exercises, equipment use, and what to expect during their visit. Maintain accurate documentation of treatments and procedures performed as required by clinic protocol. Follow all patient privacy, confidentiality, infection-control, and safety procedures. Work in conjunction with our Community Relations & Marketing Coordinator to help plan, set up, and participate in community health screenings, educational events, senior-living presentations, wellness fairs, and other outreach activities. Assist with engaging attendees, performing approved screening procedures when appropriate, answering general questions about the clinic, and helping educate the community about the services and conservative care options offered by Indy Spine and Balance. Patient Examination & Screening Assistance The Patient Rehabilitation Technician will also be trained to perform designated components of patient examinations and screenings as directed by the physician, including: Patient height Patient weight Blood pressure Temperature Digital foot scanning Other non-diagnostic examination measurements and screening procedures as trained and directed by the physician This position does not independently diagnose patients, prescribe treatment, or make clinical treatment decisions. Important Hands-On Patient Care Requirements This is a hands-on patient-care position , and applicants should carefully consider this aspect of the job before applying. Many of the therapies used in our office must be applied directly to the patient's skin in order to be performed correctly and effectively. The person in this position must therefore be professional, mature, respectful, and comfortable appropriately working with patients on different areas of the body. Depending upon the patient's condition and the treatment prescribed, treatment areas may include: Neck and shoulders Upper and lower back Arms and legs Hips Gluteal region Hamstrings Upper thigh and areas near the hip/groin region Patients may be provided with appropriate patient gowns, shorts, scrubs, draping, or other garments when necessary to appropriately access a treatment area while maintaining patient dignity, privacy, and comfort. The Rehab Technician must be comfortable explaining procedures to patients, maintaining appropriate professional boundaries, using proper draping and positioning procedures, and doing everything possible to help patients feel safe and comfortable during treatment. All treatments are performed according to physician direction, clinic protocols, patient consent, and appropriate professional standards. Qualifications No formal rehabilitation certification or previous clinical training is required. Training will be provided. Previous experience in chiropractic, physical therapy, rehabilitation, sports medicine, fitness, medical assisting, massage therapy, or another hands-on patient-care environment is desirable. Comfortable working directly and professionally with patients. Comfortable appropriately applying treatment equipment directly to a patient's skin when required. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Friendly, encouraging, compassionate, and patient-focused personality. Ability to follow detailed physician instructions and established treatment protocols. Comfortable learning and operating multiple types of clinical and rehabilitation equipment. Strong attention to detail and patient safety. Dependable and punctual. Organized and able to move efficiently between multiple patients and treatment areas. Willingness to learn and accept coaching and feedback. Ability to work effectively as part of a small, collaborative healthcare team. Comfortable working with adults of different ages, physical abilities, and health conditions. Professional appearance and demeanor. Physical Requirements Because this is an active clinical position, the Rehab Technician should be able to: Stand and walk for extended periods during the workday. Assist patients with getting positioned on and off treatment and rehabilitation equipment when appropriate. Bend, reach, kneel, and move around treatment tables and equipment. Demonstrate and assist with basic rehabilitation exercises. Safely move or reposition lightweight clinical and rehabilitation equipment. Perform repetitive hands-on treatment procedures while maintaining proper body mechanics. Current Patient Care Hours Our current patient care hours are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 7:00 AM-12:00 PM; Tuesday and Thursday from 12:00 PM-6:00 PM; and the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of each month from 8:00 AM-11:00 AM.
