Behavioral Health Technician — PHP/IOP (Dorchester, MA) Mass Bay Behavioral Health | Full-time | $20.00-$22.00/hour About Us Mass Bay Behavioral Health provides Partial Hospitalization (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient (IOP) programming in Dorchester, MA. Our team supports adults working toward recovery and stability in a structured, compassionate outpatient environment — both in person and through virtual programming. About the Role The Behavioral Health Technician is a front-line support role and a key part of the daily client experience. You'll work directly with clients and clinical staff to keep programming running smoothly, safely, and on schedule. This is a hands-on position ideal for someone building a career in behavioral health. Client Supervision & Milieu Support Provide direct supervision and support of clients throughout the program day Observe and document client behavior, mood, and participation; report changes to clinical staff Monitor group check-in/check-out and escort clients between program areas Support clients in following daily schedules and program expectations Facilitate structured downtime activities and help maintain a therapeutic milieu Model appropriate boundaries and recovery-supportive interactions Support crisis de-escalation by alerting clinical staff promptly to safety concerns Respond to and document incidents; complete incident reports per protocol Screening & Health Monitoring Collect and process urine drug screens per program protocol, maintaining proper chain of custody and client dignity Collect breathalyzer samples and document results Take and record vital signs (with training) Monitor for signs of intoxication, withdrawal, or medical distress and escalate immediately Attendance & Documentation Track and document daily client attendance accurately, including verification for telehealth/virtual clients Complete shift notes and milieu documentation in the EMR Scan, upload, and file clinical documents into the EMR Admissions & Discharge Support Assist with client intake: paperwork, program orientation, and facility tours Prepare admission packets and ensure consents and releases are signed and filed Conduct belongings searches per policy upon admission or as directed Support discharge logistics: belongings, transportation coordination, follow-up appointment reminders Office & Facility Operations Serve as office liaison between clients, clinical staff, and administration Answer phones, greet visitors, monitor the visitor log, and assist with front-desk coverage Support telehealth clients with Zoom access and basic tech troubleshooting Coordinate client transportation (ride shares, transit passes) Stock and maintain program and office supplies Coordinate meal/snack setup and breakdown for program hours Maintain cleanliness and organization of group rooms, common areas, and office spaces Conduct facility opening/closing procedures and safety checks of program areas Report maintenance and safety issues to leadership Assist with general program operations as assigned Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent (required) Relevant experience in behavioral health, substance use treatment, human services, or a related direct-care setting (required) Reliable, punctual, and comfortable working directly with clients in early recovery Strong communication skills and sound judgment regarding confidentiality (HIPAA / 42 CFR Part 2) Ability to stay organized while balancing multiple daily tasks Basic computer skills; EMR experience a plus What We Offer $20-$22/hour based on experience Paid sick time: 40 hours annually, accrued per Massachusetts Earned Sick Time Law (1 hour per 30 hours worked) Paid vacation: 80 hours annually, accrued bi-weekly Health insurance: employer covers 60% of monthly premium, up to $600/month Supportive, mission-driven team environment Hands-on experience in clinical operations — a strong entry point for careers in behavioral health Physical/Other Requirements Ability to remain on your feet for portions of the day, lift up to 25 lbs, and move throughout the facility.
