Mental Health Technician
JOB SUMMARY
: The Mental Health Technician performs selected patient care activities. The Mental Health Technician is a member of the multidisciplinary treatment team and provides support for the patient's therapeutic treatment plan. Primary responsibilities include observing and recording patient information pertinent to the treatment plan and reporting this information to the Staff Registered Nurse. Must be capable of physically assisting patients, dealing with patient emergencies, and working as a member of a clinical team.
KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE
: 1 year experience in behavioral health unit preferred. Knowledge of safety measures.
EDUCATION
: High School Diploma or GED preferred.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY
CNA preferred; if no certificate at time of hire, must have CNA certification within 1 year of date of hire. Medical terminology and current BLS Certification are required.
CPI/PART
as required by state.
Aptitudes :
Ability to achieve cognitive, organization and emotional maturity to deal effectively with multiple tasks, stresses, deadlines, difficult situations and/or customers. Possesses interpersonal/communication skills necessary for effective, non-judgmental, and empathetic patient care and customer relations. Open to feedback and open to a changing environment, which requires flexibility in scheduling and department assignments. JOB SUMMARY
(overview of job): The Certified Nurse Assistant performs selected patient care activities. The Certified Nurse Assistant is a member of the multidisciplinary treatment team and provides various patient care activities and non-professional services necessary in caring for the personal needs and comfort of the patient. Must be capable of physically assisting patients, dealing with patient emergencies, and working as a member of a clinical team. With direction of a Registered Nurse, the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides direct patient care and assists team members with delegated tasks/procedures within their scope of practice. They will possess a thorough understanding of the position's roles/responsibilities; seeks clarification when appropriate. Ability to produce accurate and timely computer documentation with little direction. Knowledge of printer and fax functions. Highly motivated to perform and able to multi-task. Flexibility in floating to assist with CNA and sitter functions on other units when needed.
KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE
: 1-3 years of experience in patient care setting.
EDUCATION
: High school graduate or equivalent preferred. Successful completion of a CNA program.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY
: Current certification as a nursing assistant. BLS certification required.
Aptitudes :
Exhibits judgment in organizing time and performing repetitive tasks. Ability to achieve cognitive, organization and emotional maturity to deal effectively with multiple stressors, deadlines, difficult situations and/or customers, within job duties. Possess interpersonal communication skills necessary for effective, non-judgmental and empathetic patient care and customer relations. Open to feedback and a changing environment, requiring flexibility in scheduling and department assignments. Takes ownership for work completed and instills confidence in themselves and their work contributions. Communicates in an effective, respectful and appropriate manner, contributing to the team environment. Ability to work collaboratively with the patient care team. 16035/647
